We all know that the key to happy residents is…… Awesome Maintenance and Service Teams! All the smiles in the world can’t calm down a resident whose faucet has been leaking for weeks. We applaud our professional, energetic, and skilled Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians who literally run around our properties and take care of ….. anything and everything. They pick up trash (where did that come from??), they fix anything and everything, they prepare apartments so they are just like new again for our next new resident, they help people, they inspect, they correct, and they change directions constantly based on what our residents need. To put it in a number format, our Maintenance and Service technicians handle over 40,000 service requests…..per year… and manage a maintenance budget of over $8,000,000. That’s big! Kudos to them all!
The 2012 Maintenance and Service Teams from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio kicked off their year at our Northbrook office in January! Our agenda was pretty packed. We talked about financial and budget information for 2012, policy and procedure best practices, team building techniques, fair housing, more efficient ordering and scheduling, fair housing, and training. In addition, Colleen facilitated some great sessions whereby our team members got the chance to “brag” about what they had accomplished AND were able to solicit solutions to the challenges they are experiencing at their properties.
Of course the best time of the day was lunch sponsored by HD Supply (thank you!), and going outside in 50-degree temps in Chicago in January to do some team building activities to prove that working together as a team CAN and must be done to achieve great results.
Soon, we are off to St. Louis to have a great time with our teams from Missouri, Kansas and Texas!
Already looking forward to the next ones in the fall! Great job everyone, cheers to a successful 2012!!
